For over 90 years the Hotel Hochsölden has stood for quality as well as pleasure and has charmed guests from near and far with its unique location. As the first hotel in Hochsölden it looks back over a long history and has been in the family since the beginning.
The Gurschler family
The hosts
Host Christiane Gurschler has run the Hotel Hochsölden with passion, and love for the job for years. It all began in 1933 as her grandfather Serafin Gurschler opened the Hotel Hochsölden as the first hotel in Hochsölden. And hospitality lies in the family – Christiane’s siblings Caroline and Michael run the Hotel Liebe Sonne in the centre of Sölden and their brother Herbert the partner ski school Yellow Power and sports shop SunUp Sports in Sölden.
The Hotel Hochsölden – now & then
Serafin Gurschler built the Hotel Hochsölden as the first hotel in Hochsölden.
The first lift from Sölden to Hochsölden came into operation.
Today’s host Christiane Gurschler started to work in the Hotel Hochsölden.
Large rebuild of the wellness area and staff accommodation.
A new team continues the high standard of quality and welcomes guests with unique hospitality.
Passion and pioneering for over 90 years
Hotel Hochsölden
While today’s guests reach Hochsölden comfortably via the Panorama road, previously the journey was far more difficult. There was only a steep agricultural road used to transport hay and wood – but the guests kept coming, again and again. In 1948 the first lift from Sölden to Hochsölden was opened, at the time it was the longest lift in Austria. When the lift company was threatened with insolvency, Christiane’s uncle, Hermann Gurschler took over the lift with other pioneers. With a lot of passion and innovative spirit, the Gurschler family contributed to the development of tourism in the valley and helped to make Sölden one of the most popular winter sports resorts in Europe.
